Uncorking, Made Easy
I have been known to enjoy an occasion class of vino here and there to celebrate little things or get over the day. In the absence of my helpful husband, I find myself taking 10 minutes to open up a bottle and most of the time the cork gets stuck. When patient, I’ll actually wait for my hubby to come home and work his charm on the bottle.
On my shopping list for the week, I had “buy a decent bottle opener” jotted down next to “grab some Red”. So I went on a little mission to find something that won’t over complicate a process that drunk people can do with no problem (and yet, I can’t).
I ended up in Brookstone looking at the Automatic Electric Bottle Opener. For $39.99, I was willing to give it a try and perhaps rid myself of the inability to open a bottle of wine in a civil manner.
Here is the good news: it uncorks the bottle in something like 5 second. You can charge it fully and have it open 30 bottles and it works on natural and synthetic corks.
The one problem I found with the device is that you don’t quit know when the cork gets “sucked” in so it’s best to hold the bottle higher and a little straight to make sure you see what’s going on.
I personally enjoy the hassle-free and twist-free method of bottle opening, so I think the $45 or so is a decent investment. I also think the electric opener would make a great gift for wine lovers and aficionados everywhere.
Salud !
