Tea for one? Yes please!

There are two types of people in the morning.

Coffee folk, and Tea trotters.

I know there are the juice/water/ goat milk varieties out there as well, but for the purposes of my review, I’m focusing on the caffeinated sorts.

Specifically, tea drinkers that want their Ceylon on the go.

My current preferred method of lugging around properly brewed (i.e. loose leaves) tea is the “Liquid Solution Tea-Zer Brewing” Mug. It has a little mesh mini bucket-like strainer that can be lifted easily and without scorching your fingers when you feel your tea is quite ready. For herbal teas, I leave the strainer in for a stronger taste.

It’s easy to drink from as the little opening up top works like a regular travel mug, but it also comes with a cap in case you want to stop the enjoyment and partake in it again later on.

The tumbler does keep the tea warm for a long time, especially if you’re not carrying it in -30 degrees. Although, I would strongly suggested that you plan on drinking your tea within 3 hours, as the flavour and heat could be significantly reduced after that period.

The tumbler itself is plastic, and comes in a variety of colours. The one advice I’d give here is that you use your tumbler for tea brewing/drinking and tea only. I used it once in place of my regular coffee mug and it took several washes to get the coffee smell out. Now I know, just tea leaves and all things herbal.

Like every single travel mug I’ve had, it’s not 100% spill proof. Meaning, if you shove it in a bag pack with your books and laptop and walk around, you will notice a few loose drops that stain your book and mess with your gadgets.  I am yet to find something that doesn’t spill at all. If you have any recommendations, do send them in! My laptop, camera, and phone will thank you from the bottom of their non-existent hearts.

I also hear that eventually with enough use the mugs will start chipping and cracking. As it’s plastic, I kind of expect that to happen. Had it been steel, I would have had a different reaction. Reasonable expectations apply here.

I suspect you can buy the tumbler in many places, but I’ve only come across it (around Ottawa) in Chapters/Indigo. It retails for around $16.99.

Now, more importantly, do you know where to get delicious tea around Ottawa or should I elaborate more on that as well?

PS. This would make an excellent gift for tea lovers, hikers, students and office workers.
