Wake Up & Smell the Tulips : Diffuser Review

Apr 16, 2010 by

I was clearing out my inbox a few days ago, and noticed the colourful Fruits and Passion newsletter sitting within a heap of bland and grey emails. Usually, I trash these newsletters without checking the content, but I decided to give it a quick overview since I was going to the mall in a couple of days anyway. If anything catches my attention in the newsletter, I’d have the opportunity to pick it up the next day or so.

While scrolling through the items, a neat looking pot with flowers caught my attention. Upon further investigation, the pot turned out to be the new diffuser set that comes in a ceramic vase with wooden flowers planted in. I’m accustomed to the bottle & sticks type of diffuser, so when I saw this I jotted down the name of the product to inspect it myself in the store.

I dragged my husband and Baby H to Bayshore Shopping Centre under the guise of researching. Okay, “dragged” is the wrong term to use here. My husband enjoys shopping, and is a very good dresser, and Baby H loves the social aspect of mall outings. So really, it was just an extension of family-time.

At Fruits & Passion, I asked the sales lady what set the diffuser aside from the rest of their aromatic products besides the decorative aspect. She informed me that the wood is natural porous, which is great for absorbing the liquid and holding the scent in the house for a period of 6 to 8 weeks.  She suggested those who buy the diffuser invest in a new wooden flower every 8 weeks or so to make sure the fragrance itself is properly and evenly diffused.

We hemmed and hawed for a while, then settled on the plum coloured flower emitting the scent of a fresh Tulip after a rainy morning. It fit well with the style of my living  room, and brought my coffee table to life.

The one thing I’ll caution about is the unpackaging process for the vase. It was a bit hard to get out of the box so you have to be careful pulling it out, otherwise the flower may break as it is delicately made.

The ceramic vase with a wooden colored flower and fragrance retail for $24, which is a great price for a home accessory that serves a function.

I’d recommend this product to those purchasing house-warming, hostess, and even office/colleague gifts.

Have a great weekend Ottawa!
