Ideas for Mother’s Day Gifts
If we’ve established anything on this blog, it’s this: I love shopping. I immensely enjoy shopping with a purpose. Since this week is dedicated to mothers everywhere, I made up a short list of gifts to buy the mom in your life.
For mommy-gardeners, I suggest a new set of gardening tools or an assortment of plants and flowers to add to her garden this spring.
If she has all the plants she desires, an herbal garden may do, you can never have enough cilantro to go around (hint: best home-made salsas are heavy on cilantro). On Friday, I will be posting a few floral recommendations to gift the amazing woman in your life.
If you’re looking at a nice pampering gift, a spa certificate will do nicely. The Spa Ottawa (Bells Corners) is a great place to spend the afternoon on for some much needed rest and relaxation. It’s quaint, warm, and the atmosphere is so relaxing. The staff caters to you and looks after your needs for the day, which is a big change for most of us mommies.
I’m also a huge fan of the Nice One Nails spa franchise. They have many locations across the city and service has always been fantastic. The prices are also one of the best in the city. Currently, they have a special on for a manicure/pedicure priced at $38.00.
A really neat idea for a mother/daughter bonding activity is a visit to the Mud Oven, where you can pick a ceramic item and decorate it together and take home as a souvenir of your creative day out. They have a wide selection of products to work with, and provide a large variety of colours and effects. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here, as time really does fly by.
If you choose to stay in for the day (or night) with the mom in your life. You can treat her to a home-spa session, prepare some lunch, make some popcorn and sit down to watch a mother/daughter movie.
No matter what you do, make sure to celebrate your mom and tell her how much you appreciate everything she’s done. It’s not easy task, believe me.
