Top 5 Canada Day BBQ Hostess Gifts
For the past couple of years my Husband and I have been celebrating Canada Day by sitting on the patio at the Cock and Bull on Sparks Street with friends and family. During the day, we love listening to my uncle DJ there, and around dinner time we head over to my brother in-law’s house for their annual Canada Day BBQ. We overindulge in the quantity we eat, since my brother in-law makes the best burgers.
This is our way of celebrating Canada Day. And while it’s still a family member I’m visiting, I never show up empty handed. I think it’s still a dinner party – of sorts – and etiquette requests that we bring something to acknowledge the effort of our hosts.
Here is what I recommend you bring as a gift for your Canada Day host/hostess.
1. A beverage-storing tub filled with juice or beer. You can purchase a fantastic one at Home Outfitters for under $30.
2. An Iced Tea Jug, which I think is a great way to make homemade iced tea or flavored water.
3. A grilling cookbook. I recommend Grilled to Perfection as it has delicious recipes from the Food Network’s show License to Grill. That particular show is popular with males as well as females.
4. If your hosts are true BBQ fanatics, consider giving them some different dry rubs or an assortment of steak spices. I recommend using the Chicago Steak Spice by Botanica from Costco.
5. If you’re attending a child-friendly party, consider purchasing something for the kid(s). A great idea would be a bubble machine or a small kiddie pool -that you can find at Wal-mart or Toys R Us. But a small gesture is just as powerful, so a couple of plushies will do just fine.
Have a great Canada Day!
