Dinner Time Chaos

Sep 9, 2010 by

Things have been pretty chaotic in our house lately, with the worst being dinner time. Baby H gets hungry and we (my Husband and I) can’t get food on the table fast enough. In all honesty, the last thing I want to do when I return from work is cook and cook quickly. When I win the lottery, I’m hiring a stay-in chef.

What frustrates me the most about dinner time is the rapid realization that my weekend purchases in the fridge have gone bad. We spend a lot on food and end up throwing half of it, just like the commercials say.

A friend of mine recently mentioned the FridgeSmart containers made by Tupperware.  After trying out a few, I got some and they’re nothing short of food (and money) savers. They are expensive, but it’s best to think of them as an investment – because they’re well worth it.

There are 3 different sizes, and you can buy them individually, but I found to cover most needs it’s handy to have all the sizes available at home.

The process of storing is a bit different but easy. Simply cut up your veggies and fruit and store them in the containers, then adjust the airflow in accordance with the chart printed on the side of the containers then pop them in the fridge.  This maximizes the potential of these containers, as it prolongs the shelf life of the fruit and veggies inside. It’s the same idea as the green bags, except these actually work.

Aside from being a money saver, it helps with food preparation in advance. For the next dinner party, you can cut up your ingredients well before the event and they’ll still be as fresh and crisp as the day you bought them.

I highly recommend the FridgeSmart containers to anyone who simply needs a little more time each and every day.

I totally agree!! I’ve been using these genius containers for a number of years (I have 2 of a few sizes, plus some special ones). They keep broccoli and lettuce fresh for WEEKS!!!! Definitely recommend them!

It is crazy how long the lettuce stays crisp. I am glad someone else shares in my container joy :)
