Host & Hostess Gifts Ideas for BBQ Parties
This year, my family will be traveling to a friend’s cottage just outside Ottawa to celebrate Canada Day. The weekend will be filled with delicious food, drinks, swimming and entertainment.
Even though we are visiting our friends whom we see on regular basis, I never feel comfortable showing up empty handed. I think of it as a dinner party – of sorts, and as such, a little gift is always a good idea to bring to the host or hostess of the party.
If you’re attending a Canada Day party and looking to bring your host or hostess a gift, here are a few of my recommendations.
1. A beverage-storing tub filled with juice or beer. You can purchase a fantastic one at Home Outfitters for under $30.
2. A Takeya Infusion Jug is a perfect gift to add a little twist to your regular tap water. Any host would love to receive one.
3. A barbecue cookbook. I recommend The Barbecue Collection from Canadian Living it has some delicious recipes on everything from grilled vegetables to fish to dessert.
4. You can pick up a variety of gourmet dip mixes from Gourmet du Village. You can also pick up a set of serving bowls to go with the dip.
5. If you’re attending a child-friendly party, consider purchasing something for the kid(s). A great idea would be a bubble machine or a small kiddie pool that you can find at Wal-mart or Toys R Us. But a small gesture is just as powerful, so a couple of plushies would do just fine.
Have a great Canada Day!
