Road Tripping With Baby H

Road Tripping With Baby H

I am packing up the family and we are headed to Buffalo, New York for a couple of days.  We are taking Baby H to his first NFL football game and I am not sure who is more excited, my Husband or Baby H.  My Husband has spent the past couple weeks teaching Baby H to say “touchdown”, “learn to tackle” and “are you kidding me”. My Husband has turned Baby H into a sports fanatic.

Last year we took a family trip to New Hampshire Baby H was a year old and road tripping was easy.  This time around Baby H is 2 and I am not so sure it will be that easy to keep him entertained for our six hour trip. I came up with the idea to create a “road trip box” that would be filled with fun and exciting items for our two year old.

The key is to purchase some new items and pack some old favourites to help keep him occupied for more than five minutes.

I took out Baby H’s car box and packed it with these:

  • A water colour colouring Kit;
  • An Etch A Sketch;
  • An assortment of sticker books and stickers;
  • A new package of cars;
  • Lots of snacks, juice and water;
  • An assortment of DVDs;
  • A collection Baby H’s favourite Fisher Price Little People CDs;
  • I packed a collection of books; and
  • Baby wipes

I packed the water colour kit, the Etch A Sketch and the stickers to keep the mess to a minimum.  Baby H still hasn’t learned that we only colour and put stickers on paper.

What are some of your favourite things to pack for road trips?

I will be writing a follow up post letting everyone know if we survived the trip.

  1. Stickers are a big hit when we travel. I also buy a sticker album from the Dollar Store.
    I also collect flyers and toy catalogues to look at in the car. It doesn’t matter what happens to them and you can play seek and find games with them.
    Have a fun time!
