Review Disney On Ice Presents Treasure Trove
Wow, what a magical night! My family and I attended the opening performance of Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove last night and it was a great family night out.
Baby H is a huge Disney fan, and this is the first year he has been old enough to enjoy a Disney On Ice show. As soon as we arrived at Scotiabank Place, we saw all of the girls dressed up as princesses and some of the boys dressed up as woody. Baby H was so excited that he ran up the walkway to the doors wanting to find his Disney friends.
When you walked into Scotiabank Place, it was filled with Disney merchandise. They had snowcones in a fancy cup, Mickey Mouse hats, characters that had spinning tops with lights and more. Baby H ended up with Mr. Incredible’s characters and spun them throughout the show.
As you walked into the rink area, you instantly felt the magic of Disney. There was a huge backdrop set up that looked like a giant curtain from Beauty and the Beast, with dimmed red lighting and a little bit of smoke, we knew we were in for a magical evening.

Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy opened the show, followed by The Incredibles getting everyone up on their feet doing some stretches. I loved that every time a new set of characters came onto the ice, they were engaging all of the kids to participate.

I loved the use of props. When Peter Pan was on, they had a huge pirate ship in the middle of the rink. At one point, Tinker Bell came flying around up top to save Peter Pan. Another great use of props was in Aladdin, they had Princess Jasmine and Prince Ali riding the magic carpet flying around the rink. You could see all of the kids eyes light up.

All of the costumes were bright, colourful and well-designed. You were always curious to see what was coming up next from behind the curtain. Another great thing was that the characters sang all of the big songs from the Disney movies, so that the kids could easily relate to the characters on the ice.

Baby H waited patiently for the Lion King to come on and when it did, it did not disappoint. Baby H was mesmerized from the moment Rafiki graced the stage on his huge cliff with the sun shining over top. Baby H sang and danced around to Hakuna Matata at the top of his lungs. The look on my son’s face when he did that was something I will never forget.

The show closed with all of the Disney characters coming and doing one last grand finale. The Disney princesses and princes made their way around the seated section surrounding the ice to give high fives and wave goodbye.

I highly recommend taking your kids to see Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove. It is a family night out that our family is treasure for a long time.
I do have one little tip for parents who have younger children. Try and choose an afternoon performance because it runs for two hours with the intermission and the evening show was a little too late for my two year old.
If you have attended any of the performances, I would love to hear what you thought of the show.
